Dr. Reza Gholizadehaghoyeh is an internationally recognized chemical engineer and scientist, specializing in sustainable and environmentally friendly chemistry. With an impressive track record in multiple countries, including China, Cyprus, Italy, and Slovenia, he is renowned for pioneering a novel green bifunctional electrocatalyst that directly converts CO2 greenhouse gas into valuable chemicals and fuels. Dr. Gholizadehaghoyeh holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Technology from Tsinghua University, China. His expertise spans renewable energy, machine learning, nanomaterials, multiscale modeling, and catalysis. Currently residing in Ljubljana, he serves as a Research Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Chemistry, Slovenia, where he leads EU-funded projects on CO2 conversion, photocatalysis, and hydrogen storage. Additionally, he is an advisor to Slovenian students and researchers, fostering innovation and sustainability in the scientific community.

🎓Education:

Dr. Reza Gholizadehaghoyeh holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Technology from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, where he conducted research on “NOx Gases Adsorption and Decomposition on Metal Oxides and Si/Se Doped Graphene Catalysts: DFT Simulations” under the supervision of Professor Yang-Xin Yu (2011-2015). He earned his M.Sc. in Engineering with a focus on water field from the Department of Chemical Engineering, Science and Research Branch of Tehran University, Iran, where he investigated the corrosion of aluminum alloys and designed a water purification system (2004-2007). His academic journey began with a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Azad University, Iran, where he studied the glucose separation of sugar beet (1997-2001).

🏢Work Experience:

Dr. Reza Gholizadehaghoyeh currently serves as a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Catalysis and Chemical Reaction Engineering at Kemijski inštitut, Ljubljana, Slovenia (since June 2021). Additionally, he is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Archives of Advanced Engineering Science (since November 2021). From November 2020 to November 2022, he was a Marie-Curie Individual Postdoctoral Scholar at the same institute. Prior to this, he was a member of the Board of Directors and R&D Manager at Moghavem Shargh Company in Mashhad, Iran (2017-2020). Dr. Gholizadehaghoyeh also completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Tsinghua University, Beijing, China (2015-2017), where he later served on the Strategic Scientific Advisory Panel and as an instructor for the General Science and Technology Summer School (2016). His earlier roles include being the Scientific Director of the Water Chemistry Group at the Science and Technology Research Institute in Tehran, Iran (2009-2011), and a Senior Consultant and Engineer in the Water & Wastewater Purification field at the same institute (2005-2009). He also worked as a Scientific Advisor and Instructor at Tabriz Azad University, Tabriz, Iran (2003-2005), and completed an internship at Tabriz Oil Refining Company, Tabriz, Iran (2000-2001)

🏆Awards:

Dr. Reza Gholizadehaghoyeh has been honored with several prestigious awards throughout his career. In 2020, he received the Marie-Curie Individual Fellowship from the European Union. His exemplary research contributions were also recognized by Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, where he was awarded the Best Researcher Award in 2016. Earlier in his career, he was distinguished by Azad University in Iran with the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2012.
