Professor Jerzy Franciszek Janik, Ph.D., is a distinguished Polish chemist renowned for his expertise in inorganic chemistry and materials science. With a career spanning over four decades, Dr. Janik has made significant contributions to the field, particularly in the areas of nanomaterials, ceramic semiconductors, and fuel conversions.

🎓 Education and Academic Journey:

Dr. Janik earned his Master’s degree in Chemistry from Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland, in 1974. He later pursued his Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of New Mexico (UNM), Albuquerque, USA, under the guidance of Prof. Robert T. Paine. His doctoral research focused on investigating group III-V compounds as precursors for solid-state materials.

In 1994, Dr. Janik successfully defended his habilitation thesis at AGH University of Science and Technology (AGH-UST), Krakow, Poland, further establishing his expertise in the characterization of reactions and processes in the formation of aluminum nitride (AlN) and boron nitride (BN) based solid-state materials from chemical precursors.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions, Dr. Janik was conferred the title of Full Professor by the President of Poland in 2006.

👨‍🏫 Professional Experience:

Dr. Janik’s academic journey includes various teaching and research positions at AGH-UST, where he has served as a research assistant, adjunct professor, and later as a full professor. He has also held prestigious postdoctoral positions at the University of New Mexico and Duke University, USA, where he furthered his research in collaboration with renowned scholars in the field.

Throughout his career, Dr. Janik has demonstrated exemplary leadership, serving as the head of the Department of Carbon and Inorganic Materials and later as the chairman of the Department of Fuels Technology at AGH-UST.
