Dr. Mohamed Reda at Al-Azhar University | Egypt
Dr. Mohamed Reda Masoud Mohamed is an accomplished petroleum geologist whose career spans more than thirteen years of academic and applied research across major institutions in Egypt and Iraq. His work centers on petroleum basin analysis, reservoir characterization, structural geology, and subsurface evaluation, with a strong record of producing impactful geological interpretations for hydrocarbon-bearing systems in the Gulf of Suez and other key basins. He earned both his master’s and doctoral degrees in petroleum geology with theses that advanced understanding of Belayim Reefal Limestone petrophysics and the petroleum system behavior of the October Oil Field. Throughout his career, he has combined analytical rigor with applied geoscience methodologies, contributing to improved reserve assessments, reservoir modeling accuracy, and subsurface mapping. As a lecturer in petroleum geology, he has delivered comprehensive teaching and training in structural geology, basin analysis, reservoir characterization, and project management, shaping the academic development of undergraduate and postgraduate students. His supervision record includes approximately ten theses and twelve graduation projects, guiding emerging researchers in data interpretation, field analysis, reservoir modeling, and industry-standard reporting. In parallel, he has contributed to curriculum development, modernized practical training programs, and introduced advanced geological software to enhance research efficiency. His academic leadership also includes reevaluation projects of national oil and gas reserves, demonstrating his role in bridging academic research with petroleum industry needs. His research output continues to focus on geological modeling, sequence stratigraphy, petrophysical interpretation, and integrated petroleum system studies, contributing significantly to regional understanding of hydrocarbon generation, migration, and entrapment. Through sustained teaching, research, and mentorship, he has built a strong reputation as a specialist in petroleum geoscience capable of elevating both academic programs and practical exploration outcomes.
