Dr . Chuanming Zhang , Heterogeneous catalysis , China

Chuanming Zhang, born on January 17, 1994, in China, is currently pursuing a Doctoral degree at Xiamen University in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering under the guidance of Hongping Zhu (09/2020 – 06/2024). He previously earned a Master’s degree from Shihezi University (09/2016 – 06/2019) under the advisement of Jinli Zhang, and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Qingdao University (09/2012 – 06/2016). His research focuses on designing and preparing stable catalysts for various hydrogenation reactions, including the transformation of 3-hydroxy-2-methylpyridine (3-HMP) to 1,3-propanediol (1,3-PDO) and the hydrogenation of dimethyl oxalate (DMO) to methyl glycolate (MG) using Ru-based catalysts. Through the selection of metal promoters and auxiliary metals, he aims to improve catalyst efficiency and lifespan, ultimately achieving high selectivity and yield in these hydrogenation processes.
